Dare to Dream: Enterprises Challenged to Innovate at Avasant’s Empowering Beyond Summit in Los Angeles
Empowering Beyond Summit 2019 was successfully concluded on March 19th, 2019 at The Novo at L.A. Live. Avasant’s flagship annual conference featured high-level speakers including Ray Barnard, EVP at Fluor, Mary Gendron, CIO of Qualcomm, Sabby Ray, COO at AIG, Mark Hill, CIO at Gilead Sciences, and many more. Over 250 senior executives from major technology providers including IBM, Cognizant, NTT, Zensar, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS, HCL and Wipro were in attendance at this sold-out conference.
The theme for this year’s event was “Dare to Dream: Future of the Digital Enterprise”, and speakers delivered presentations discussing the role of enterprises and their digital services to serve the needs of consumers in the ever-evolving digital economy. Many of Avasant’s clients spoke about their enterprise transformation initiatives and how they had incorporated digital business solutions, keeping the consumer and their challenges in mind.
Avasant CEO, Kevin Parikh presenting the Summit’s opening keynote called enterprises to action, to take innovative leaps and create moonshots that solve the great problems of our time. Parikh’s presentation, “Dare to Dream”, set the tone for a day filled with thought-provoking insights from seasoned industry executives about the role of automation, artificial intelligence, blockchain and digital services in transforming organizations.
“We live in a world where technology is allowing us to dream big and build anything,” noted Kevin, “but what are we doing to solve the grand challenges of our time? A fear of failure manifesting in our self-imposed limitations has damned us to an existence of incremental upgraders rather than breakthrough innovators.”
Vibrant panel discussions featured themes of digital innovation, disruption and transformation across various industries. The Digital Innovators panel moderated by Conference Chair Anupam Govil, Partner, Avasant featured Sabby Ray, COO, AIG, Larry Godec, CIO, First American, Rick Hopfer, Co-CEO, Hart and Avasant Fellow.
The Technology Disruptors panel moderated by Akshay Khanna, Avasant Partner and Global Lead, Avasant Labs focused on How Blockchain, AI and Automation are Enabling Enterprise 4.0. Speakers from ACI Specialty Benefits, Equifax and UIPath shared how enterprises are leveraging these emerging technologies to drive disruption.
The final panel of the day on Next Gen Sourcing models featured speakers from Merck, Jaguar Land Rover, OneAmerica, and was moderated by Naresh Lachmandas, Former CIO, L3 Communication and Avasant Fellow.
Fireside chats presented industry-specific opportunities to examine digital transformational challenges and solutions. The first of the day, “Balancing Strategic Growth and Risks” was presented by David Jacobs, AVP, Business of Information Systems, Intermountain Healthcare and Joe Frampus, Partner, Avasant.
Sean Lennon, CIO, Allergan and Mark Hill, CIO, Gilead Sciences discussed the latest trends in Value-based Care and Digital Healthcare in their session titled ‘Enabling the Future of Healthcare and Life Sciences’, moderated by Nishant Verma, Partner, Avasant.
Nic Mulkey (VP, IT, Life Time) and Venky Krishnaswamy (CEO, Koopid) joined Andy Popov (Senior Director, Avasant) on stage to discuss their own experiences in the fireside chat, ‘Re-imagining the Digital Customer Experience’.
In keeping with the day’s focus on dynamism in transformative technologies, Anupam Govil (Partner, Avasant), Akshay Khanna (Partner, Avasant), and Swapnil Bhatnagar (Research Director, Avasant) presented on the topic, ‘The New Rubric for Partnering with Technology Providers in the Digital Age”, emphasizing how Radarview can help enterprises assess and select technology providers to enable digital transformation.
