Former V.P Human Resources, Corporate Services and Chief Administrative Officer at EBRD and Former Head of Service Management at Rio Tinto
Mr Pons has more than 20 years of international experience in leading Corporate Services teams, having developed his career in different areas of Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, Administrative Support and Internal Audit. His main technical domains are organisational transformation, business process re-engineering and advanced analytics.
He is an experienced team manager and a people person who has a track record of building, developing and motivating high performance teams across different functions and in particular in Corporate Services, Finance, Data and Analytics as well as Internal Audit. At EBRD, Fernando had the overall responsibility for the formulation, coordination and implementation of the Bank’s strategy for Corporate Services, with the aim of providing value through the design, transformation, and continuous improvement of administrative support services. He also ensured an effective and efficient delivery of business support processes that ensure the required levels of control and compliance, maintaining strong internal customer relationships, including customer satisfaction and monitoring and managing service delivery levels. He was a member of the Executive Committee and Management Committee and chaired the IT Governance Committee. In the past, he was the Head of Service Management at Rio Tinto mining company where he led a global business processes transformation program. He has also worked for leading pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, Merck, where he held various leadership positions in financial services, procurement and in internal audit, among them Regional Director Project Realization and was responsible for leading the financial services transformation program for Europe, Middle East /Africa and Latin America.
