Irvine, Calif. — Computer Economics Inc. announces the appointment of Dave Wagner as Vice President Research. Dave assumes the responsibilities of John Longwell, who is retiring but will continue to serve in an advisory capacity as Vice President Research, Emeritus.
Before joining Computer Economics earlier this year, Wagner was an executive editor for United Business Media’s InformationWeek and previously an assistant editor with the MIT Sloan Management Review. He now oversees the firm’s annual surveys and research projects.
Longwell ably lead Computer Economics’ research group for nine years, expanding its offerings and improving the quality of its research.
“I hope to build on John’s legacy,” Wagner said. “Computer Economics has been a trusted source for IT metrics for years because of John’s efforts. I want to make sure that doesn’t change, and I’m hoping to find new ways to serve our clients with research that helps them make the best decisions possible.”

Most recently, Wagner successfully assumed responsibility for the Computer Economics annual IT Spending and Staffing Benchmarks study, which was published in June. He is now preparing for the annual IT salary survey and the worldwide technology trends survey, to be launched later this year.
