The business process outsourcing (BPO) sector of the Caribbean grew at an average rate of 17% from 2010 to 2015. Increasingly, international BPO companies are tapping into a young, cost-effective workforce that speaks four different languages on top of their mother tongues.
In this paper, we present our research findings regarding the ICT Regulatory framework in about 30 Small Island Developing States (SIDS). For this research we have chosen the key regulatory areas such as licensing, spectrum management, tariff, number portability and market competition.
Youth employment is a major policy concern for governments across the world. This is because finding productive employment for the youth is intrinsically linked to economic growth, political stability and social progress of a state.
The changing landscape of IT/BPO industry has led to the emergence of new locations in Africa. Among many African nations, Ethiopia is growing at the rate of more than 10% per annum and is likely to attain the middle-income status by 2025. Leveraging ICT with a focus on capacity building is catalyzing economic prosperity and creating sustainable employment opportunity in the country.
Avasant with support from the Rockefeller Foundation developed a detailed study to provide recommendations to the governments on best practice and policies to implement Impact Sourcing. Avasant reached out to a diverse set of stakeholders in the industry and leveraged a multi-pronged approach for data collection and gathering best practice.
