Grid computing is receiving a great deal of emphasis from computer vendors, including Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Sun, looking for new sources of revenues. Be careful to note when talking to vendors that the term “grid computing” can mean just about anything. While constructing a grid is a challenging undertaking today, standards for grid computing are emerging, and there are helpful tools available.
