Avasant Foundation’s Golf for Impact Brings Together Technology Industry Leaders in Support of Youth Education and Empowerment

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWeb), April 17, 2017

Avasant Foundation is proud to have hosted its fifth annual Golf for Impact fundraiser. Together, technology industry leaders have raised $250,000 toward the expansion of Avasant Foundation’s work in youth education and empowerment in emerging countries.

The Foundation hosted executives from 22 leading technology firms at one of California’s most elite golf venues, Lakeside Golf Club. The tournament enjoyed a sizeable turnout and was followed by a gala reception where attendees learned more about the Foundation and its growing platform. Keynotes were also delivered by Keith Coleman of Tesla Foundation and Ashwin Rangan of ICANN to usher in the industry discussions that would take place at Empowering Beyond Summit 2018 the following day.

At the reception, Chitra Rajeshwari, Executive Director of the Avasant Foundation, noted, “I am proud to see the foundation making strides in helping the deserving youths get into the workforce, the impact we have on their lives is why we are so committed to creating these opportunities in the emerging market. The skills training programs help develop the entrepreneurial and technical skills for our students. and partnering with local technology providers to give our students access to sustainable career paths.” She added, “We are extremely grateful to our generous sponsors for their continued support towards these programs as they share the success of our graduates.”

Kevin Parikh, Chairman of the Avasant Foundation and Global CEO of Avasant noted, “The digital economy is driving a disruption that is impacting traditional employment opportunities. Today’s youth need to be trained for jobs of the future. At Avasant Foundation, we are building connections for young people to meet the demands brought forth in the new millennium.”

The Foundation prides itself on transparency, sharing with each sponsor the quantitative impact their donation has on the lives of youth in these emerging countries. Funds are allocated directly to programs in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the United States.

At the event, Avasant Foundation showed a video narrated by Dwight Gray a recent graduate of Avasant’s Digital Youth Employment Initiative. Gray, as a result of the training program and his own hard work, was employed within the first week of graduation. This message from Dwight reminded us of how important it is that we continue these education programs in emerging countries: “Programs like the Avasant Skill Training Program build not only you but the economy around you. If I’m able to set a better path for myself then I’m able to set a better path for my kids and then they can have a better start in life. They don’t have to go through the struggles that I have gone through. The only way out of the violence and poverty is to give each and every youth an equal opportunity to better themselves.”
