Avasant President Dr.Pradeep Mukherji addresses the Temasek Foundation Centre for Trade & Negotiations Dialogue on Services and Global Value Chains

Mukherji addressed representatives from Trade Ministries from ASEAN countries at the recently concluded Temasek Foundation Center for Trade & Negotiations Dialogue on Services and Global Value Chains held at Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore, from June 23-24, 2014. "Trade in ITES-BPO services holds significant potential for a number of ASEAN countries to leverage economic growth. Based on the sophistication and maturity of its ITES-BPO industry, a member country has the opportunity to focus on promoting a particular segment of the BPO global value chain. However, in order to lay a strong foundation for the growth of the ITES-BPO sector, creation of the appropriate business eco system supported by appropriate incentives and regulations is essential" said Dr. Mukherji while presenting a paper on " Business Process Outsourcing: Showcasing the Potential of Services Global Value Chains". The event was sponsored by the Temasek foundation and Nanyang Technological University. The event was attended by a high level ministerial representatives from ASEAN Countries including, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Pakistan. The workshop deliberated on a) The role of Services Trade in World economy b) Managing Services Global Value Chain (GVCs) and its Challenges c) Social Dimensions of Managing GVCs and d) Leveraging Trade Agreements to support GVC Outcomes.
