AVASANT ANALYST INSIGHTS
Practice Maturity
- BT leverages its years of experience in securing information, data, and communications, its global scale, and capabilities acquired from its partner network to reach out to customers with a portfolio of end-to-end cybersecurity solutions. It has strengthened its cloud services capabilities by integrating Trend Micro’s Deep Security, which is available in 22 global cloud delivery zones across 19 countries.
- It continues to strengthen its network security solutions, leveraging IBM QRadar technology for SIEM and partnering with Qualys for vulnerability scanning. Its BT Managed Network Access Control (NAC) Security enables users to have complete visibility across all connected endpoints.
- It also has a long-established association with Symantec to offer endpoint security and has further expanded this capability to connected devices by collaborating with IoT security provider ForeScout Technologies.
- All of this is managed by its team of over 3,000 security specialists with industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, OSCE, OSCP, and CREST. It is also accredited under the ANSSI, PASSI, and CREST’s Penetration Testing and Simulated Target Attack & Response (STAR) scheme.
Partnership Ecosystem
- BT is collaborating with academia and start-ups to develop new skills and organize events. It recently collaborated with MIT to co-host the cybersecurity summit in Cambridge, MA, a partnership with over 30 years of research. In the past, it partnered with IISc to set up a research center in Bengaluru, India that focuses on AI, mobility, and cybersecurity technologies.
- It is collaborating with UK National Cyber Security Centre to drive the Active Cyber Defense program to prevent nationwide cyber-attacks. It is also collaborating with law enforcement authorities, including Interpol and Europol, to collectively address cyber fraud.
- It is also working with other ISPs in the UK to exchange intelligence around malicious domains.
Investments and Innovation
- In its attempt to strengthen its security capabilities in Europe, BT opened a new SOC in Paris and upgraded its existing SOCs in Madrid and Frankfurt to provide cloud SIEM services. The Paris SOC is designed to meet PDIS and European NIS Directives. This allows BT to collaborate with organizations managing Critical National Infrastructure and to qualify as a Security Incident Detection service provider.
- Sensing the demand in the APAC region, in 2017, it introduced the R&D hub in Sydney and last year, opened a cybersecurity hub in Singapore.
- With a focus on hiring and talent development, BT has set up Digital Academy in Consumer, building an Enterprise team for digital media and data insights and developing cloud computing and cyber skills at scale. It also has plans to expand the security team by 25% over the next 5 years.
