Practice Maturity
- Orange Business Services is in the midst of significant strategic change. Some of its key goals are expanding the share of revenues from outside France to over 50% and to grow over 22% by 2022. These involve developing new revenue streams as cost pressure on the telecom sector continues to rise. Cloud has been chosen as one of the levers to drive towards these objectives.
- After establishing a successful cloud business (over 15% growth in 2017), it is now making significant investments (both organic and inorganic means) to drive this business. It has also developed multiple cloud offerings, including the flexible Engine cloud offering based on OpenStack. This launch in 2017 added a significant boost to its cloud-related services revenue in 2018.
- Orange Business Services has taken a co-innovation approach with its existing customer base, through which it has jointly developed new monitoring tools to manage cloud native applications, and which can also be accessed on multiple devices.
Partnership Ecosystem
- Orange Business Services have forged strategic alliances with leading cloud infrastructure providers, including Microsoft Azure and AWS. It has trained over 100+ experts on AWS in France and globally.
- It is working with Huawei for their cloud computing services, under which they will rely on Huawei’s research and development on cloud solutions,, inject new features to proprietary flexible engine product, and define new strategies to cater to clients.
- It has formed a global alliance called “Flexible 4 business” together with Cisco, EMC and VMware to deliver enterprise cloud computing services.
Investments & Innovation
- Orange Business Services continues to invest towards expanding workforce capabilities and added over 300 employees to the team in 2018.
- It acquired Basefarm, a leading European cloud-based infrastructure and services provider, in July 2018. With this acquisition, it is looking to accelerate their existing cloud portfolio and strengthen operational presence across Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Germany.
- Apart from large enterprises, Orange Business Services has also developed a cloud-starter offering that is seeing good traction amongst the startup community.
