Practice Maturity
- Fujitsu’s growing multi-cloud business has taken major strides in delivering managed cloud services across multiple geographies. Recently, it established a multi-cloud support center in Japan to cater to client needs.
- With a platform and technology-agnostic approach, it has a strong portfolio of IPs and assets, including MetaArc cloud solution and K5, an open-source hybrid cloud management platform. Last year, Fujitsu decided to withdraw its K5 platform in all sales regions outside of Japan and focus instead on multi-cloud integration and the growing industry-wide skills gap.
- It is moving beyond its strength areas in BFSI and expanding to other industries by developing verticalized solutions. For instance, it has launched a SaaS-based Clinical DDworks21 to help hospitals with clinical trial documents and trial sites in Japan.
- In line with the company’s focus on expanding multi-cloud capabilities, Fujitsu is training around 10,000 cloud professionals in diverse public cloud certifications and cloud-native technologies.
Partnership Ecosystem
- Fujitsu has a very strong partnership with Microsoft (Azure Expert MSP) and has been a preferred partner of choice. In May 2019, it has launched its vertically integrated platform PRIMEFLEX for the Azure Stack to enable users with quick cloud deployment. It also plans to train over 4,000 cloud resources globally across Azure-led cloud programs.
- It uses its partnerships to expand reach to new clients. It became the latest member to join the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), a not-for-profit organization that develops cloud security standards. Through this, Fujitsu will extend its service provider program and ecosystem approach to multiple CSPs in the UK.
- On the open-source front, it has partners with Red Hat to integrate its OpenStack platform with its hybrid cloud offering ‘Fujitsu’s Cloud Services for OSS’.
Investments & Innovation
- Fujitsu has significantly invested in strengthening and expanding its base of reusable assets through in-house development. In October 2019, Fujitsu has launched a new portfolio of multi-cloud security services, including cloud-agnostic data encryption, Cloud Security Posture Management, and enhanced protection of Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) services.
- It actively collaborates with technology providers and cloud SIs to work on innovative cloud initiatives. For instance, it is working with NTT Communications and FANUC, a Japanese conglomerate, to develop Digital Utility Cloud to streamline internal operations and improve the customer experience for manufacturing clients.
