The procurement function is growing in importance in supporting a company’s success, profitability, and resiliency. Nevertheless, there are new challenges to fulfilling the mission of this critical function. These include disruptions in the supply chain such as COVID-19, labor shortages, unusually high port congestion, Russia’s war with Ukraine, tensions between the US and China, inflation, and elongated equipment lead times due to computer chip shortages. So what keeps a CPO up at night? To answer that question, we conducted a survey of senior supply chain leaders. We asked them to rate and rank 11 pre-determined issues that were their top concerns and gave them an opportunity to add additional issues.
