Ram Mathilakath
For close to three decades, Ram has worked closely with Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentarians, CEOs, boards and executive management of large federal government departments and Corporate Canada on public financial management (PFM), project finance, strategy, business transformation, outsourcing and P3.
Ram successfully transitioned from a large–scale MNC platform to financial advisory roles at E&Y to executive leadership roles at Canada’s Export Development Canada (EDC) to large Canadian
federal government organizations: Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada, Parliamentary Budget Office, Public Services & Procurement Canada, ISED, Canada Border Services Agency and Shared Services Canada. He set up Canada’s Parliamentary Budget Office in 2011 along with Kevin Page and provided advice to Parliamentarians on a range of public financial management issues to hold the government to account. More recently, Ram was Director General in the Canadian Federal Government where he led the IT strategic planning, procurement and business transformation for a division with $750M in annual expenditures. He is a frequent advisor to the World Bank and foreign governments on PFM and business transformation.
Ram has a Master of Commerce, (Major in Banking) from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, India. Ram completed executive education in Private Equity from Harvard Business School & is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Senior positions held relate to strategic direction, advice to Boards and audit committees, transaction structuring, transaction authorization, risk management, financial restructuring, operational & compliance audits and program design and delivery.
